An Update on Cracked Tooth
AbstractCracked tooth syndrome is a common manifestation in daily practice in Hong Kong. Cracked tooth is defined as “thin surface disruption of enamel and dentine, and possibly cementum, of unknown depth or extension” from the American Association of endodontists. The diagnosis and management of cracked tooth is always a challenge due to the variable clinical presentations and unpredictable prognosis. Depending on the crack extension and symptoms severity, there is a wide range of treatment options available. This presentation will focus on the clinical diagnosis and management, with both the conventional and innovative approaches. The outcome of endodontically treated cracked teeth will be reviewed. Clinicians can better advise their patients on making informed choice of the available treatment options.
